Scanned issues of this magazine going back to the 1940s. Covers all aspects of Oregon geology.

American Scientist

Geology Today
Great publication providing resources for amateur and professional earth scientists. Regular features include articles, news, and the ongoing Fossils Explained, Minerals Explained, and Building Stones Explained sections.

PCC Library has lots of resources that you can use on your own. You may already know that about the quiet study spaces as well as study rooms you can reserve.

Citing sources is another way you can help yourself! PCC Library has all the information you need on Cite Sources. The library also has video tutorials on everything from how to develop a topic for your paper to figuring out how to incorporate those citations. You'll find those videos, as well as information about using e-resources, at Tutorials and Handouts.

This website by Dartmouth College provides many resources on active volcanoes. You'll be able to find maps of active volcanoes worldwide and the full texts of dissertations covering active volcanoes. The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (aka DOGAMI) is the go-to place for geology information in Oregon including information about natural hazards like tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanos.

The DOGAMI site includes links to a lot of great information including links to original DOGAMI publications like:

DOGAMI also provides the Oregon Geologic Data Compilation, a digital compilation of geologic date for the state of Oregon.

USGS Website and Publications

The U.S. Geological Survey, or USGS, provides reliable scientific information about geology, natural disasters, water management, and energy and mineral resources.

The USGS site has a wealth of information including data, maps, educational pamphlets, hundreds of images, educational materials, and lots more.
