Photography Collections on the Internet

History of the American West
A collection of over 30,000 photographs of the American West from 1860-1920, drawn from the holdings of the Western History and Genealogy Department at Denver Public Library. Search by keyword or browse by topic.

International Center for Photography -- collections
The ICP collection spans the history of the photographic medium, from daguerreotypes to gelatin silver and digital chromogenic prints, but is strongest in its holdings of American and European documentary photography from about 1930 through the 1960s. Includes  a searchable database of ICP's Photography Collection. Each record includes information about the photographer, title, date, medium, as well as an image, when available.

Museum of Modern Art, photography collection (MoMA)
MoMA established the modern photography department in 1940.
